Hi Elkey,
Congratulation, You have made it :)

The things you have mentioned are almost the same experiences which many people experience at the first time and I'm included in. Even I haven't seen my physical body in bed, I always see an empty bed, home without people (Yet I sometimes hear voices), streets without people and I haven't cared about it anytime because I love that most :)

Almost a similar experiences which made me to practice more and more and I didn't get much information in internet and I found many misguiding people always tried to sell their products than teaching things to people. So I decided to start an Open astral projection forum to help people with real information.

Let's come to the point:
Well, You can not see your physical body in your bed because you were not in physical plan and you were completely in Astral Plane, You can see your physical body only if you are in Etheric plane which is the plane overlapping the physical and astral. As Enraged Master said, Astral plane is mixed with your physical thoughts which you astral body made it to feel yourself comfortable. When it comes to the light, The astral plane will always have a dawn like effect and if you are more concerned about the lighting, you astral body will try to brighten the lights.

Hope this helps :)

Let us know if you have any questions :)

Happy Travels,
Praveen

Lkj, I'm Here for Inner Awakening

Hi Praveen, thank you for your thoughts. It's great to have this forum, like you said, too many people out there on the Internet just try selling their products.

Anyway, i had one more experience and it was not so successful. I was feeling stressed that days, so it is no wonder it didn't go well. I exited my body, but it was very dark, like it would be in the real world. That didn't appeal to me because in my first experience it was like dawn (and i remember you saying astral plane has dawn-like effect) so i got a bit worried. I tried to go through a wall but i just simply couldn't...it's like i was in the physical body trying to go through a wall. Then I came out a window and went to the roof of my building. It was very dark outside and it wasnt pleasant so i just returned.

That was maybe 2 weeks ago and I haven't had a projection since. How come the environment in this particular experience was so dark?

BTW I think maybe you should move this topic to "your experiences" section because maybe people could learn something from this, and not so many people read "introduction" sections of the forums.

Echo, I'm Here for Inner Awakening

I thought your original post was well written and easy to read. I haven't read all of the replies but because I identify so much with the original post, that's what I'm responding to.

My first couple projections were similar. I once was floating but had no control over it. I remember vividly the sensation of pressing my cheek to the cold, wet window. The believable touch sensation had really blown my mind at the time.  :)

Maybe instead of floating out, try a roll out technique because you will likely end up standing. Then just walk out a door. It really is an experience to walk around, and I find I have much better control. Sometimes it even feels too real..like eventually I have to try something that defies reality just to be sure I'm not outside in my pjs.

The catalyst for conscious sleep paralysis is different for everyone, which is why it's sometimes hard to give advice. Similar to what happened to you, I started having weird sleep phenomenon which led me to researching, which led me to astral projection. Though, I had never experienced anything when I was a child, and it all happened in a short span if time.

After reading and researching techniques, projection without fear was just the next step. Sleep interruption, naps, and repeating "mind awake, body asleep," seemed to work for me in the beginning. But mostly I think my dedication and fascination with astral projection is what made me conscious all of a sudden during SP.  like the more time you spend thinking about it, the more likely it is to happen.

Just don't get flustered if you fall asleep because sleep is good!

And I just read the rest..oops. Looks like you've had some success! Awesome! AP can easily turn into a dream..it walks a fine line :) it all about maintain lucidity. I associate AP with conscious thought. And with conscious thought, comes a conscious body.

Thank you kindly, Echo. You talk about a thin line between AP and a dream, and the key is to remain lucid... but how does one then know the difference between AP and a lucid dream? Could it be possible you mistake one for the other?

Hi, You don't have to know the difference between those as both are same. Read more: Difference Between Astral Projection and Lucid Dreaming

As you have mentioned, you were tiered and you didn't had much energy to project to the higher planes and you projected to the lower planes, That is why you felt your surroundings dark. Do not worry about the surroundings, Just go on and explore :)

I forgot to move this topic to experiences category, Thanks for the suggestion :)
