Sounds like sleep paralysis, which can often happen when leaving your body. You were probably headed in the right direction but you woke up out of fear. I’ve entered the astral plane through sleep paralysis. You have to face the fear head on, challenge the creature/ man thing. And your sister felt it, are you sure? Well my gf said she felt me shaking once when I had sp...and a couple other times our dreams have overlapped. Perhaps two people can share sp too. If it was sp, I mean. hmm...did you feel paralyzed?

I like that idea of the astral body being around you rather than in you. It makes more sense to me in that matter is a concentration of energy field, and that being the case the field must extend beyond the body.

hello! I’m new here. This happened a long time ago, but one day I was meditating at night and I was laying down. I’m not sure how long I was meditating because I usually do it to fall asleep. At some point I noticed I wasn’t breathing and then I felt myself get pulled very quickly downwards into my bed. I had so many weird sensations and my eyes were closed but I could see my bed from below and everything had a purple tint. It only lasted for a few seconds. I did this many times over months trying to make it last for longer but it only ever lasts for a few seconds. I can’t even explain the sensations except it was like my whole body was tingling and vibrating while being completely still and being sucked downwards. Hello. My intuition tells me you could do better in clear vision if you engage in some visual purification techniques prior to centerong in the astral projective intent. I suggest candle flame gazing for 12 - 16 minutes in a dim lit room. Congratulations on your first OBE, that is very exciting indeed. Often times the astral plane does not exactly resemble the physical plane and all of its properties. For example, if your physical body is extremely tired, it may have a different appearance than when it is rested and energized. You may even not see your physical body at all, and the landscape of your environment may change in the astral plane. Safe travels.

I have a thousand times, but only while meditating. Whenever I meditate, I know I see, a beautiful Woman, who comes while meditating and She sits on top of me, ane we rock the boat. I feel a full powerful sensations. It's wonderful.

There have definitely been accounts of people meeting in the astral, I encourage you to look them up as they're quite interesting. So yes, you should be able to communicate with them in the astral if they are consciously projecting.
