So yesterday after a very long time of not trying to astral project, I did. As usual I did what worked best for me, put on my earpiece and play my binaural beats as I imagine myself floating out. However, as I felt lighter and lighter going into the astral realm all of a sudden a loud slap on the side of my bed awoke me. I wasn't scared however I asked why did it stopped me. It's as bough something is stopping me. I woke up and saw that my room was empty. The loud slap to the side of my bed awoke me from entering the astral realm. Any ideas as to why this happened ?
This is exactly what happened to me two months ago . It felt like a slap on my face as i was falling in sp . I havent been able to astral project that easily ever since that.To get an idea before that loud snap i could astral project every time that i would lay down ( about 4 times a day) now i can only ap on the weekends with a lot of concentration ;-;that could also be due to school idk ...
A slap? I have never experienced nothing like that, so I'm not sure if I can answer that but, what did happened to me when I was close to projecting, was that falling sensation you have sometimes when falling asleep.
I also felt like floating and instinctively knew I was close, but out of nowhere that sensation came, it scared the living hell out of me, just like you I was listening to binaural beats.
Well, in the Hypnagogic state ( the one we are while trying to project ) usually weird things will happen, hallucinations and other visual, auditory, and physical stimuli. The reason as to why sometimes these things happen when close to projecting it's a little unclear. But I guess since the body doesn't us to get separated at the slightest sign of "danger" it will snap you back.
My theory is that, while we're fully immersed into projecting we will not consciously pay attention to our surroundings anymore, but our body will, say for instance some noise was made near or in wherever the place you'll be projecting, the body will promptly stay in alert, thus ruining the projection, so the slap you heard probably was not the cause of you snapping back but the consequence.Your body aborted the mission so you heard this slap within your head and woke up.
At least that's what I think, but my experience was not exactly the same so I might not be the right person to say it. I'm curious to what it was as well, hopefully someone will give a better answer.
