Hi everyone. I'm wondering if many of you have had all three or maybe two of these three experiences. Astral projection, lucid dreaming, and OBEs. How do you differentiate between the three? I've tried a lucid dreaming forum, and with some of my experiences I've found that a lot of people there didn't really understand what I was talking about. I've definitely seen that my experience match up better with this forum, but I still seem to be referring to my experiences as lucid dreams because although there seem to be differences in my experiences there seem to be more similarities than anything...and at the time I only knew about lucid dreams so I put all of my experiences into one category. What I've found is that I'm fairly certain I was astral projecting some of the time...but how do I know what is a lucid dream and what is astral projection? I have no idea about OBEs, as if I've accomplished them (and I've had this separating feeling people talk about but have never actually looked back to see if I could see myself). Are there distinct different feelings involved that I'm not picking up on or that I just have never known about? I've had experiences of having complete control in some, and none in others...but the feeling of the lucidity seems to be the same. I'm just wondering if any of you here have a good way to differentiate between them. Any hints?
I will speak from experience, 33-4 years. I was in a car wreck in 1978 an I spent 6 months in a coma. I had 1 deep recall of the event. The car just drove me into the ground and kept right on going. I was driving too. Well, they shot that car, lol.
The side of my brain that was affected was the left side around the speech center. Yes, the right brain does not have the ability to speak; only the left brain. The left brain is the outside communicator, the right brain is the inside speaker.
I could say that I had an OBE, but the first one was after the actual experience of the experience of the car rolling over me. Just a touch and that was enough. I was prepared then to accept some other things. Like being taught astrally. Mind you, it has been 33 years. And it is not that I am slow in learning, there is so much in the astral world. Just like the real world. But there are little differences you have to know about. It is a different environment. Things move differently. There is no gravity, but there is controllability. Things don't change superficially, they change absolutely.
It all depends on your frame of mind. You can't change the color of some little something in the picture, every little change affects everything else.
I for one, have really never had lucid dreams. I've always been a little jealous when people describe it, "I decide to fly and then I just fly." I have always been able to remember my dreams but never take control. I've read about WILD (acronym for something to do with astral projection) and MILD (something to do with lucid dreaming). I think lucid dreaming happens when you have already been asleep for a while and you gain control of your dream. Astral projecting doesn't really involve a dream, to my knowledge or experience (which is limited). Astral projecting feels more like a conscious occurance. I can't speak for lucid dreaming, the few times I've been able to identify that I was deaming, I always opt to take a back seat. I just think to myself "Cool, I know I'm dreaming, wonder what will happen next."
You mention 3 things: Astral projection, Lucid dreaming, and OBE. I think the difference is in the vibrations, the frequency. You know they have discovered a particle that can pass through matter; the neutrino. The neutrino is like the dividing state between our physical dimension and the dimensions you describe.
You have to consider your own state, being physical. You do everything in a physical world. Your physical eyes can only see physical things. When you sleep, it is not your physical eyes that see, it turns into the actual experience of another dimension, a vibratory experience.
It is hard to describe the differences in those 3 things, it's like, you can see the difference. I think it has to do with appearances.
In Astral Projections there are auras. In the astral world, you can determine the actual feelings by the aura. Lucid dreaming is moving within an environment. And an OBE is a stationary experience that involves becoming one with all things insomuch that you can sense all things.

A good thing that wakes me up in lucid dreaming is looking at my hands. If your hands look ****ed up, YOU ARE IN A DREAM! I look at my hands dozens of times a day, so eventually looking at my hands gets incorporated into my dream, I see how messed up they are, and as though I got a slap in the face, I realize I am dreaming. Usually my fingernails are missing, my fingers look very jelly-like and start stretching/shrinking, or my hands are off color. The I suddenly can think, and I can change whatever I want in the dream. In a dream, everything is always bright and sunny if you are outside during sunny weather. Bizzare things pop up (for example, all of the dandelions in your yard may suddenly grow long green tubes and start connecting). If you are dreaming you can conjure up anything you want. In the dream I had last night I made a moose appear, I hopped on its back, and while riding it, I wound up in a horse showjumping competition, we jumped and won, then the moose exploded into confetti and eclairs, then I rode home on an elephant. Does that sound realistic? Lmao. If you are in an OBE, try to make something appear, such as a new tree or a moose like I did. If you cannot conjure up anything, it is probably just an OBE. Also lucid dreams usually have those trippy feelings to them. Waaay to many weird things might happen...for example a zombie apocalypse. Like I said before, the inability to conjure up things means you are not in an OBE. And also, lucid dreams are alyways gonna have weird elements.
Now, if you can sort through all that ramble, hopefully I have cleared some things up for you. Good luck xD
Also in dreams if you turn off the light switch it wont really go off!!
