Hi, this is my first post here. I am a bit confused as to how far I've gotten in astral projection.
I started trying different techniques last year around September when my interest on the subject peaked during that time. About two weeks passed and none of the techniques worked, until one morning that I woke up kinda early and went back to sleep it spontaneously happened. I'll never forget those 2 sounds that were so loud and became louder with each passing second, they sounded like alarms/ high pitched oscillatory computer sounds. The whole thing lasted like 10 seconds because I got scared but was very excited at the same time.
Since then I've felt like a baby who's been learning all kind of new things one at a time. This "thing" kept happening spontaneously more often early in the mornings. First I could only hear things, these high pitched sounds, eventually human voices, people talking, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. Everything looked dark. Weeks later I saw my first images, random colors in the shape of squares. These sometimes became scenarios with people talking, but I was just an spectator. I think I had just fallen asleep at that point and those were dreams, but felt more real than usual dreams.
I could only move my eyes when this was happening and was able to wake up at will. (except one time that I opened my eyes and everything looked blurry and couldn't move, that was probably the scariest I've been while doing this). I managed to stay in this state for a bit longer and began trying the exit techniques. After some time I was only able to move my arms, at first it felt so real that I would open my eyes to see if I was moving my real arms, but they were in normal sleeping positions. At this point I was in the middle of my semester and I couldn't make 'this' happen as often as I wanted, but everytime it happened I heard, saw, felt something new, every time was different.
Finnaly after a couple of months I was able to stand up beside my bed and actually see and find my self in my room. (I think it was thank to the rolling technique). I did look like my room except the first time it happened there was a big mirror on one of the walls, I remember seeing myself in the mirror wearing nothing but some boxers, I got out my room, went to the living room, and to the other room where my brother sleeps (I live in a small apartment so there wasn't much room to walk around). at this point I was really happy because I felt I had given a huge step in astral projection. I was able to 'separate' many more times after that first time, but I found myself always next to my bed and with ability to just walk around and check things out. In two occasions I've seen my brother seating in the living room but he doesn't seem to notice I'm there. I've touched and feel the textures of walls, I like to look at my hands a lot because they look funny and different everytime. I've looked at my bed to see if my body was there but it was empty(it was strangely hard to look back for some reason, like physically hard), I've yelled aloud and it sounds like I'm yelling underwater.
Now, I've heard stories of people just flying through the roof and going anywhere they want IN THEIR FIRST TRY, I don't know if they are exaggerating or what, but all I can do after all this time is walk around my apartment. One time tried to leave, but when I reached the door it felt like something or someone was preventing me from opening it. So my question is, have I really reached separation or am just lucid dreaming? I mean I can decide what to do and feel fully conscious when I do this, I just feel like I can't progress any further, and it doesn't help that I'm so busy with university I guess, I've barely experienced it like two times for the last 2 months. Maybe I'm still a newb and need more practice?, well that's my story so far, thanks for reading (sorry for mistakes, english is my second language)
