A short walk through the woods

It was one of my later journeys; it began when I was lying in bed in the early morning, after awakening from sleep. All of a sudden I saw a picture of a road going through the forest; in the next instance the barrier between me and the picture was broken and I found myself standing on the road.

There were people there; they seemed to be refugees or otherwise running from some kind of undefined danger. I remember them wearing backpacks. Having no other specified plans, I joined them.

We walked along the road for some time; then we turned to the right, where a path ran up the forested hill. The woods were dense and dark, and the sky above us was overcast. At one point we stopped to rest; there was a precipice before me, and staring down into it I could see the dark woods below. For a moment I was gripped with fear of falling, but then I reminded myself that I'm in the altered state, and the fall shouldn't do any damage to the body that lay safely in bed in the world next door.

We passed through the hills and arrived at the town on the opposite side. There I parted with my companions and started to explore the town; I entered what appeared to be school, though rather empty and deserted, and then my trance was broken and I found myself back in my bed in the fields we know.

Not the most spectacular journey I've made, but the one that stands out in my memories for some reason. Also, a way of saying hello. :)
