What's happening

I had a dream last night where I became conscious that I was dreaming. I fell down some steps as I was leaving a building and although it looked like a painful fall, I was pleased to see that it didn't hurt me at all, I simply bounced back up. I was then walking when I jumped up and began to fly. As I began to leave the ground, I felt tingling and the full sensation of my soul leaving my body. I thought I had finally managed to astral project. Everything went black and I started to open my eyes but I was unfortunately opening the eyes of my body and I realized that I certainly was not astral projecting as I was awake in my room!

I also frequently have dreams where I manage to astral project within the dream. I have a few friends who committed suicide a while back and I've met them in these dreams where I believed I was astral projecting and they've told me that they're very happy where they are. They also protected me from evil spirits I met on the astral plane. I am very positive that this was a dream though - and not actually astral projection as a friend of mine who's still alive was in the dream and at no point did I make a conscious decision to return back to my body.

I keep having dreams of projecting like this, but when I look back on the experience, I know that it must have been a dream as I haven't been able to walk through walls and certain things changed in the projection, such as the model of my cellphone was the same as my boyfriends.

Is it possible that I'm semi projecting? Or is this absolutely completely a dream. I regularly feel the tingling and the soul leaving my body when I go asleep, but nothing comes.

Sounds to me that you are on the verge of projecting lucid dreaming. The only way to find out whether you are lucid dreaming is to to reality checks. Can you control what happens in your dream? Can you pass through solid objects? Do you have to consciously return to your body, or do you just "wake up"? The answers to these questions should tell you where you are at the moment in progress towards projection.

Good luck!

garyscottadamson, I'm Here for Inner Awakening

I unfortunately always just wake up. Whenever I take control of a dream or think I'm projecting, I just wake up. It annoys me because, it's like my brain is just stopping me from doing it to annoy me. There is absolutely no reason for me to wake up when these experiences happen, but I always do. It's so frustrating.
