Nearly foolproof method for OBE, tell me if it doesn't work

This sounds complicated but really isn't.

Best times to practise: In bed before going to sleep, literally just after waking up

Needed: Incense (optional), crystals (optional) and an i-pod or an mp3 player (necessary)

I recommend not having the room in pitch black but not having the room bright. Dim the lights as low as they go or throw something non flammable over a lamp. If you have nothing non flammable and your lights don't dim then have the hallway light on and open the door ajar. If that's not possible then just have the room in pitch black it just helps to visualise the room.

I like to use an mp3 player or i-pod rather than a laptop because they're much smaller and don't have bright lights. That said a laptop can be used when the chips are down. Use headphones.

Step 1: Get to the alpha level. A good way to d this is to listen to binaural beats on your i-pod. There is a variety of free and cheap mp3s available online.  Chose one that suits you. Listen to this until it gets you into a trance. Try to clear your head. If you don't completely then hakuna matata because most of the time I don't clear every single one of them but try to clear most thoughts. A good way of getting into the alpha level is you imagine your brainwaves as you would see them on a chart or how you see sound waves illustrated, resembling spikes. Imagine these spikes getting further and further apart until they resemble waves more than spikes. As you imagine yourself getting to the alpha level you will be in the alpha level. Repeat mentally 'I am in the alpha level, I am in the alpha level.'

Step 2: Feeling the vibrations. Don't worry if you don't feel the vibrations. Not everyone does. You can get to this stage if:

  • Your body feels heavy
  • You feel totally relaxed
  • You feel 'ready' to astral project

Now here's the hard part. Imagine that feeling when you're about to sneeze, cry, laugh or puke. That exiting rush of energy before the big explosion. Pause this feeling and 'cover' your entire body with this. That 'about to explode' feeling. Now breathe in and out. Think of nothing but your breathing in and out. Breathe in slowly and breathe back out. Now imagine like when you pump something you lift the pump and push it down and whenever you pump air into it gets bigger. Imagine that when you breathe in your getting higher and higher. Visualise the room from your POV. Look at yourself lying on the bed with your headphones in. Look at what your headphones are. What make they are. What colour they are. Look at yourself, every detail. Look at your duvet, your clothes. Fly up to the ceiling now. Touch the ceiling. Feel the ceiling. Now either go of into the ether or go back inside your body and wake up.
