Hello,
I recently read Konstantinos "Summoning Spirits", where the author describes a technique of astral projection to be used before attempting to evoke any spirit to visible manifestation. It consists (in short) of visualizing a light streaming from the imaginary (visualized) ball above one's head and pulling this imaginary light into one's body, until a double, overlapping with the physical body, is created. One then has to transfer her consciousness into this imaginary body and 'lift off' from the physical body.
As I wrote in the previous thread, the first technique I've used for a fully controlled projection (I used to experience them before, but they seemed to come and go at their own leisure) involved creating an imaginary 'twin' hovering above my physical body, and then transferring my consciousness to it. The technique was lifted from the practices of the magical organisation 'Ordo Aurum Solis', as outlined in the books by Dennings and Phillips. After some thought I realized that the technique bores strong similarity to the technique described by Konstantinos, at least as to the general principle.
Now let's look at the technique developed and described by the Austrian occultist Alfred Ballabene. The technique involves focusing one's attention on one's body (without visualization), moving the imaginary "energy" (experienced as a stream of warmth) around the body, and then imagining a "rocking" sensation to separate one's self from the physical body.
I realized that, even though different on surface, all the three techniques make use of the same general principle. First, an etheric 'twin' is built by visualization and/or concentration, and then the consciousness is transferred into the twin. Once the full sequence is complete, a controlled projection occurs.
With this principle in mind, I believe it will be easier to experiment and create new and more efficient practices rather than blindly following the paths already trodden.
