New here. I've been trying to recreate and OBE I had 14 years ago. I've come so close so many times but no cigar. I can bring myself in to sleep paralysis usually* in about 30 minutes and seem to get all the symptoms of a separation but as the common story goes cannot seep to separate. I did manage to have a lucid dream which was strange because the person I asked to see in the dream called me after not speaking to her in almost a year.

I really apologize for the very late reply, I request you to go through the forum sticky posts once which will surely help you find the solution for your problem with separation. It is the belief which will help you than the hard struggle for the separation. Sorry for the late reply muffin, But astral projection doesnt needs alot of time and practice to achieve! Some people even does it from the first day!
