I used to have this problem. I’m cautious of saying this, because it’s extreme, but it’s honestly what I used to do... I would jump off my roof when I projected. Out the window, then jump off the roof. It was the only way I could fully realize that I was projecting (because I didn’t break my legs on impact)... There are others signs that you’re actually asleep even though you feel like you are awake and in a well known environment.. I don’t know, my roof wasn’t that high so I felt comfortable doing it. Don’t do this if you are in a high rise or something. But along that same school of thought, there are lots of things you can do to test your “reality”...jump up and down and see if you feel different, try walking through a wall, look at a clock, look in a mirror (but that can be creepy), exit through your front door and run around outside ?

I don’t believe in it. I astral project all the time but I don’t think there’s anything supernatural or spiritual about it besides the awesomeness of it. I’ve tried to test different things and it’s never affected the real world.

A few questions.

I’ve never seen a cord of any kind, but what you see is a manifestation from your mind so it’s entirely subjective to the individual.

I don’t believe that you would ever stay in a different “reality” for more than your allotted sleep. That being said, sometimes you can experience more than one day while in your projection or lucid dream. The most I have ever experienced is an astral projection, then false awakening into the following day in a congruent timeline, before actually waking up..if that makes sense. I thought it was 2 days before I woke up and it was just my normal night sleep.

Please calrify my three main concerns

So you were astral projecting in your room. In my experience, if you don’t put some distance between your bed, you kinda get this magnetic pull back to your body. The images you see while meditating or falling asleep are hypnagogic hallucinations. Don’t concentrate on them until you are in that vibrating state. Once you’re in that state, seriously just go through the motion of opening your eyes. Your actual eyes probably won’t open because you’re in sleep paralysis, instead your mind creates the illusion of sight. The swallowing thing used to hang me up too. Relaxed jaw and head slightly leaning to the right or left so that the tongue isn’t getting pulled back into the throat..if you need to swallow, just do it. I think trying not to breaks the relaxation process more than just doing it.

Hi I'm Max - intense vibrations, but no projection

I don’t know about the “rope” method. The first couple times I successfully projected I “rolled” out of bed. I thought I was just awake in my room, until I actually came to in my bed. If you feel that your legs have separated, just go for it. If your timing isn’t right, you end up either in this weird sluggish state of limbo or can’t really distinguish what is happening. That being said, even failed attempts are really interesting and get you more accustomed to the sensations. My advice is to do whatever motion works to get you away from your bed as far and fast as you can. As soon as you feel some decent vibrations, try everything to get out of bed and outside. I’ve been projecting for the past 8 years on a fairly regular basis, so feel free to ask anything.
